Puppet Fever

For those of you who may not know, my brother is a puppeteer.  He builds puppets and he performs.  Never is he more in his element than when a puppet is on his arm or when he's elbow deep in foam and glue.  He always amazes me when he is behind the stage and his 6 year old friend, Riki comes out to talk to everyone.  It only takes a few seconds and you believe that this cute little guy made of foam and material is real. It makes me proud.

Marc has been all over the country and to England doing what he loves.  And he's good at it.  This weekend, I got to watch his talent in action again and it was so much fun!

Marc and Sam hosted a One Way Street Puppet Festival at their church.  Over 180 people were there to learn, perform and compete in all things puppets!  If you have never been to one of these festivals, they are quite interesting.  Lot's of people all together, playing with puppets, talking in strange voices, walking around with their arms over their heads.  But you can't be their long before you catch it.  "Puppet Fever"!  The creativity in a room like this is crazy!  And you get to watch several different puppet teams from all over the region compete with songs and ideas that they are using in ministry.  It's so much fun!

Marc asked me to join him this past weekend and help at the festival.  I was honored.  I have been to several, I have taken my own team and competed, and I've even been one of the workshop teachers.  But this time, I got to work behind the scenes.  It was a lot of fun.  I did catch that "Puppet Fever" again.  I miss directing. Maybe one day the Lord will give me another team. But for now, I simply enjoyed watching Marc in his element.
