A God Ordained Interview

I've spent the last ten days working a booth out at the Clay County Fair.  It's always fun because I get to meet new people and tell everyone all about Apparent Project.  I never get tired of seeing their facial expressions when you explain that the beads they are looking at are made from cereal boxes.

With each person that walks up, I never know who I will be talking to and where the conversation might lead.  Like this story from last year.

So, obviously I have come into this year wondering where it would lead and what God was going to do.  This time, it came from a completely unexpected place.  The mall.

What?

I know!  I was shocked too!

Here's what happened:

Normally, during this week, I sort of shut down my Calligraphy business.  I don't take on any new work because I just don't have the time.  But I received a call last week from a stationery company here in town that refers me a lot.  They were in a bind and of course the envelopes needed to be addressed and in the mail yesterday!  Because they refer me, I just didn't feel like it would be wise for me to say no.  Although I knew that was going to make my week even more crazy.

I made arrangements to meet the owner on Monday and get all the envelopes from her.  That was the best day since I didn't have to be at the Fair until 4:00.

I got up on Monday and I took Anne to school.  I came back home and laid down on the couch for a little bit and fell asleep.  My phone rang at 9:00 and it was the lady wanting me to come and meet her to get the envelopes.  I asked her if we could meet around 1:30 or so, thinking that I could just pick Anne up from school at the same time and have more time to relax and be at home.  I had already gone out - would go out again and then run in the opposite direction to the Fair.  But, she couldn't meet me then - it had to be now.  UGH!!!

So I got up and got ready with the goal to meet her at 10:30.  Great.  Four different trips today.  Not real happy about that one at all.

While I was getting ready, I decided that since I was going to be close to the mall, I would run in to the Clinique counter at Dillard's and pick up some eye shadow.  I had run out of my favorite color.

I met my person, picked up my envelopes and ran over to the mall real quick.  I have a lady there that has been my "consultant" for years.  We got to talking and of course the subject of Haiti came up - as it usually does.  Since I had just been in February, we were talking about my recent trip.  Then all of a sudden she told me that I needed to meet someone.

We walked over and she introduced me to the Este Lauder consultant at the other counter.  Her name was Valerie.  She had been to Haiti too and so we just "had" to meet.  This happens all the time so I didn't think much of it.  I introduced myself and we began exchanging stories.  Valerie had been there helping with water filtration systems and asked me about my experience.  I began to tell her my story.

Literally, within a few minutes, she stopped me and said, "I have a radio talk show.  I would love to interview you.  Would you be willing to do that?"

Wait.

What?????

A radio show?

What station?

Turns out it is WAY Radio - our local Christian AM station.  She has a program on the weekends called Conversations with Valmarie.

Wow!  Sure!   I'll be happy to do that!

I left there with my head spinning!  Ok - I get it God!  This morning really didn't have anything to do with envelopes or makeup!

So - this past Thursday morning, I went to the radio station and got to share my story and talk all about Apparent Project!   How cool is that????  It was so much fun!  My only regret is that I didn't have her take a picture of me with the big headphones on and the massive microphone in my face!  LOL!

It is being edited and will air sometime after Easter.  Of course, I will let everyone know when!!!  You can listen on line so no matter where you are, you will be able to tune in!

Once again I just giggle.  God ordained that meeting at Dillard's last Monday.  And all my grumbling and complaining wasn't going to change anything.  For that I am thankful.  I would NOT have gotten dressed and gone down to the mall that day just for makeup.  I wouldn't have left my house any more than I had to.

I'm so glad He uses me anyway.  And I am so excited to see where this is going to lead.  It was obviously God's plan and there is a purpose in it.  Great things are about to unfold.   Again.

One of the things we talked about during the interview was really being available for God to use us.  I'm so thankful that I made myself available three years ago concerning Apparent Project.  Otherwise, I would be missing out on all of these "God moments."

Living in His will is truly the absolute best place to be.  Sometimes it is hard - but it is ALWAYS worth it.

Until next time - with dates and times so you can listen!

Just amazing! I giggle often at the way I see God at work in my life. It comes in the most unexpected ways and you always have to be ready to recieve them and open to recoginizing that it's Him at work. Glad you went to buy make-up tha day :)
